Von-Esmarch-Straße: Optimised Roundabout Instead of Traffic Lights

The more than 14,000 signatures collected from citizens opposing the conversion into a signalised junction send a clear message.

From the very beginning of the political debate, we have favoured the demands of the "Kreisel statt Ampel" ("Roundabout instead of Traffic Lights") initiative regarding modernisation and the detailed measures it proposed.

We continue to stand by an optimised Dutch-style roundabout as the best solution for the junction at Von-Esmarch-Straße.

This redesign is not only cost-effective but also time-efficient.

Our position is based on empirically validated studies¹: an optimised roundabout reduces the risk of accidents for all road users.

We are currently in talks with the other democratic council groups to quickly find a safe and viable solution that does justice to the concerns of the citizens.
