Coalition: correct the procedural error, adopt the budget swiftly

The city administration made a procedural error in the first two-year budget. As a result, the budget must be adopted again by the council in May. This is annoying – but the coalition of the Greens, SPD and Volt will vote for the budget again without any changes.

Commenting on the matter, Andrea Blome, Albert Wenzel, Lia Kirsch and Maren Berkenheide, spokespersons and leaders of the coalition groups, state:

“People make mistakes, and procedural errors happen in complex organisations – what matters is limiting their consequences quickly and efficiently. Our coalition stands for reliability. We therefore support the administration's plan to correct the procedural error quickly and to adopt the budget again in unchanged form.

We discussed the budget politically in intensive talks and anchored important building blocks for a city fit for the future in it. To the best of our knowledge, all the figures and calculations contained in the budget are correct. The council should therefore adopt it swiftly now. That way, the political projects and initiatives linked to the budget can get under way as soon as possible.”
