In spring 2024, the newly elected spokesperson had identified irregularities while reviewing the council group's finances. After legal advice, the matter was referred to the public prosecutor's office for further investigation. The council group has fully supported the investigation ever since. As the case is now being heard in court, we will continue to refrain from commenting publicly on individual details and will not pre-empt the outcome of the proceedings.
The discovery of the irregularities also marked the start of a comprehensive review and reorganisation of the council group's administrative and control structures. The group office was reorganised and its working procedures were further developed.
We will report on the outcome of the proceedings once the main hearing has concluded.
